TurboPot

TurboPot

Ken LeVan makes custom handmade banjos to order. The LeVan "TurboPot" is a unique kind of banjo construction. Visually reminiscent of water wheels on mills and paddlewheels on steamboats, this construction doesn't use the cylindrical rim or "air chamber", which is the basis of most banjo designs since the 1800s, but uses an open ended axial construction which allows the sound to project out beyond the cofines of what would normally be the "rim".

Most of the wooden parts are made from pattern grade Honduras Mahogany and Cherry. The tone ring is made from heavy-walled red Brass tubing and cartridge Brass. The fingerboard is American Black Locust and 50 year old Rosewood, and the inlays are all made from Magnesium.

The clear head and tempered glass resonator allow you to see through the whole banjo front to back.
